Change One Diet from Reader's Digest

The Change One Diet is a relatively new weight loss program from a well-known publisher, Reader's Digest. The content is authored by some of their leading health and nutrition writers.

The plan originally appeared in the book Change One: Lose Weight Simply, Safely, and Forever: The Breakthrough 12-Week Eating Plan from Readers Digest, and received very favorable reviews (typically 5/5). Reader's Digest have now come up with a complete on-line format (with all the bells and whistles).

Upon closer investigation, this weight loss program does have some unique features - something hard to find in the over-saturated weight loss industry. The name "Change One" comes from the idea that you make a single change to your lifestyle and diet each week.

Start out by altering breakfast habits, then lunch, then dinner and so on. Each week gradual changes are made towards a 12 week goal. There are no restricted food groups as such, and the diet is simply a balanced plan based on an "optimal" caloric intake for weight loss. It's a refreshing break away from the "bad/naughty" foods point-of-view that causes so many dieters to binge or fail.

NOTE: Change One is one of the ONLY on-line diets to offer a completely FREE Trial Period.

Change One Diet - Is It Good?

The Change One diet plan can range in cost from $1.92 per week up to $3.45 per week. This depends on how long you sign up for. As far as costs go this is very reasonable, considering the amount of tools and support they provide.

Signing up for 12 months is by far the best option - the price is almost halved, and it proves you have made a long term commitment!

The idea of gradual changes is appealing. This may give you more of a chance of sustaining the fat loss over the long term and keeping up with good eating habits. Too many weight loss programs require drastic changes to diet - which have an effect over the short term -- but think to yourself -- "can I imagine still eating like this 10 years from now?".

We Give Change One Thumbs Up.

They have all the tools, support, and community offered by most other online programs, but the subscription costs compare very favorably.

Good For Diabetics

Change One has a number of tools suitable for diabetics, including a blood sugar tracker, diabetes message board, and specific recipes for diabetics.

Disadvantages

One gripe we have is the optimal calorie calculation. After you fill out your personal profile, they list a daily calorie level. Presumably this is the calorie level that you will need to lose the weight. However for men it may be slightly low. (i.e. 1450 calories for a 5' 11" male).
